NATIONAL University bucked a sloppy start to defeat erstwhile unbeaten Far Eastern University, 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-18 in the UAAP volleyball tournament on Wednesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Bryan Bagunas led the attack with 22 points on 19 spikes two blocks and an ace as the Bulldogs dealt FEU its first loss in six matches.

FEU took control in the opening frame with a 6-2 run for a 20-16 lead, a good enough separation to stave off an NU retaliation late.

It was all NU after that and the Bulldogs improved their record to 5-1 for a three-way tie with FEU and Ateneo.

Meanwhile, University of the Philippines scored its second win, beating University of Sto. Tomas, 25-22, 19-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-12.

UP got its second victory against four losses, while the Tigers continued to slide and are now at 3-3.
