COACH Dante Alinsunurin was all praises for top dog Bryan Bagunas after all the hard work finally bore fruit as he towed National University to the title after three years of heartbreak.

Bagunas shone the brightest for the Bulldogs in the finals against the Blue Eagles, putting up averages of 20.5 points in two matches, including a 22-point effort in a four-set win on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum that clinched their first title since 2014.

With the way Bagunas worked all season long, coach Dante Alinsunurin was far from shocked.

“Wala akong masabi diyan kasi sobrang sipag niyan sa ensayo. Nagpapalit na ng damit sa sobrang basa, kahit alam na naming talagang sobrang yung kundisyon (niya) down na down na talaga sa sobrang dami naming ginagawa,” said Alinsunurin after the match.

Alinsunurin said that while the fourth-year open spiker isn’t that vocal, his work ethic is enough to lead by example.

Bagunas said that he knew his responsibility and didn’t want to disappoint his coach and teammates.

Kailangan naming may mapatunayan na talaga,” he added.

Bagunas capped his season with the finals MVP title, but still deflected the credit to his teammates, saying that he wouldn’t have been in this position had it not for them.
