FAR Eastern University star Bernadeth Pons' presence proved a big boost offensively and psychologically as the Lady Tamaraws made it back to the finals of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Collegiate Conference after a three-year absence.

Pons missed four games for FEU due to her stints in both the Southeast Asian Beach Volleyball Games in Singapore and in the UAAP beach volleyball tournament.

But her timely return played a vital role in the Lady Tamaraws’ 21-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-18 win over Adamson in the deciding Game Three of the best-of-three semis at The Arena in San Juan on Monday night.

Pons, who came off the bench in the first set before she started in the next three sets, finished with 15 points, 14 digs and 11 excellent receptions.

But the Lady Tamaraws skipper admitted that she needed some time to adjust to the indoor play after playing for four straight days on the sand court.

FEU will face back-to-back defending champion National University in the best-of-three Finals starting on Wednesday.

The Lady Tamaraws won the Season 11 conference crown, the team’s first and only title so far.
