BERNADETH Pons is enjoying the extra work aside from her duties as hitter, and Far Eastern University is doing much better with her all-around performance.

FEU extended its win streak to three after with a four-set win over University of the Philippines, with Pons, a fourth year outside spiker, coming up with 24 points and libero-like numbers of 23 digs and 14 excellent receptions.

“Sobrang happy (ako sa nilalaro niya) kasi hindi lang sa harap eh. 'Yun nga sabi ko before siya 'yung second libero ko sa likuran kung kailangan ko ng floor defense," said FEU coach Shaq delos Santos.

After six games, Pons has 109 points, while National University stalwart Jaja Santiago has 95.

On the defensive end, Pons has an average of 20.3 digs and 12.6 excellent receptions in their past three wins.

“Siyempre, pinapahirapan nila ako sa training para makatulong sa depensa sa likod ginagawa ko talaga siya every game,” she said. “Nag-eenjoy kasi talaga ako kapag dumedepensa saka rume-receive.”

“Lalo pa akong nai-inspire kasi sobrang nag-eenjoy ako kapag nasa likod,” she added.
