Balipure outlasts Perlas in five sets for second straight victory in PVL
Balipure scores its sixth win in eight matches.

BALIPURE got a new win run going, defeating Perlas, 25-21, 25-23, 16-25, 25-27, 15-10, on Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena.

The Water Defenders, coming off a straight-sets win over Air Force, scored their second consecutive victory for a 6-2 win-loss card.

American import Jennifer Keddy scored 24 points, Thai reinforcement Jeng Bualee added 16, while National  University tandem Aiko Urdas and Risa Sato chipped in 12 and 11 markers, respectively, for Balipure.

Despite the win, BaliPure coach Roger Gorayeb could not help but complain about his wards’ lack of killer instinct.

“Ayoko na…” he said. “Lamang kami eh, lamang kami sa points kaya lang ang mga bata hindi ko alam kung anong problema doon sa third set namin.”

“Sayang eh, it breaks a players’ heart kapag ganyan ang nangyayari. They should know something, hindi ko alam ano nangyayari eh,” he added.

It was a tough match for both teams with the air conditioning units in the venue not working, but Gorayeb refused to use that as an excuse.

“Isa rin ’yan pero ’yung kabila ganyan ding init ang nilalaro, it’s not an excuse anymore eh,” he said.

“There’s no excuse if you lose the game you played poorly, the other team plays very well oh eh di matatalo ka talaga,” he added.

Rupia Inck led all scorers with 27 points, while Kathy Bersola added 12 for the Perlas Spikers, who slid to 5-4.
