ATENEO marched to the UAAP women’s volleyball Final Four after a 25-18, 25-18, 25-18 breeze over University of the Philippines Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

Alyssa Valdez came away with 20 points, while rookie Bea de Leon added 10 markers for the defending champion, who will be in the semifinals for the sixth straight year.

“Worth it lahat ng pagod,” said Valdez. “Thank you Lord.”

“Stay lang ang focus namin sa Final Four,” she added.

Ateneo stretched its winning streak to 10 and remained unbeaten to stay on top.

But the Ateneo skipper still wanted to raise the level of Lady Eagles’ game.

“Sobrang dami pa namin kailangan i-improve. Gusto naming itaas level ng laro namin,” said Valdez. “Si Coach Tai (kasi) never pinapa feel na nananalo kami. During training, he manages to show na wala pa kami sa aming peak level.”

Marian Buitre and team captain Nicole Tiamzon combined for 25 points for UP, which dropped to sixth spot with an even record of 5-5.
