Maraguinot most disappointed with herself as Lady Eagles fall flat vs La Salle

JHOANA Maraguinot made no effort to hide her disappointment after a season-low performance after a crucial Ateneo loss to La Salle at the end of the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball eliminations.

The Alitagtag, Batangas native was limited to just three points as the Lady Eagles lost dropped a 24-26, 17-25, 19-25 loss, dropping to No. 3 and losing twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four.

“Syempre I'm disappointed lalo na sa sarili ko,” said Maraguinot. “‘Cause I know I could do better. But kinulang eh. I think I just have to accept it, bawi na lang next game.”

It's not a question of communication or the lack of it, she added.

“I think that's the hard part eh, naguusap naman kami, siguro bad day lang talaga,” Maraguinot said. “Hindi siguro obvious but naguusap naman kami sa loob eh. Every point naman, tinutulungan namin ang isa't isa.”

This marked the first time since Season 76 that Ateneo won't be having a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals, but Maraguinot refused to sulk.

“Siguro today, I'd soak it all in, accept. Tomorrow is a new day, bounce back na lang,” she said.
