Ateneo keeps slate unblemished, gains Spikers Turf semis with quick win over UST
Marck Espejo lead the way anew for the Ateneo volleyball team.

ATENEO beat University of Santo Tomas, 25-16, 25-15, 25-21, on Saturday to secure a semifinal seat in the Spikers Turf Collegiate Conference at the Flying V Arena Arena in San Juan.

Marck Espejo led the way anew for the Blue Eagles with eight points from six attacks, while Joshua Villanueva and Ysay Marasigan added seven points each.

The Eagles are unbeaten in four matches, while the Tigers absorbed their first loss in four outings.

"Now, we are secured siyempre, I'm not telling my players to take it slow but kung ano kaya nila gawin, gawin nila right away and then kung ma-sesecure nila yung number one, secure nila yung No. 1," said Ateneo head coach Oliver Almadro.

Tyrone Cardonan paced the Tiger Spikers with six points, while Jericho Jose and Manuel Medina added five points each.

Ateneo will next face University of the Philippines,while UST hopes to seal a playoff spot when it takes on Emilio Aguinaldo College.
