ATENEO scored its third straight win in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament, defeating Adamson, 25-18, 14-25, 25-18, 15-25, 15-10, on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Team captain Maddie Madayag and Jhoana Maraguinot led the way for the Lady Eagles, who started the season with back-to-back losses and now hold a 3-2 record.

Maraguinot scored 15 points, while Madayag had 14 including the game-winning block on Chiara Permentilla.

Jules Samonte also scored 14 and Kat Tolentino had 10 points.

“Sobrang nakakasaya din naman na pataas nang pataas ‘yung level naman ng team,” said Madayag.

The Lady Eagles, whose two losses were both five-setters, finally got a much-needed boost from the youngsters, according to Madayag.

“Siguro pinakita talaga namin na lumaban talaga kami compared sa other five-set games, saka nakita naman na sobrang close ’yung scores and I guess nag-step up yung mga bata,” she said.

Ely Soyud had 19 points for Adamson, while skipper Jema Galanza scored 12.

The Lady Falcons slid to 2-3.
