ATENEO stalwart Bea de Leon is uncertain whether to play her fifth and final year with the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles bowed out at the semifinal stage of the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament after back-to-back titles and two straight runner-up finishes.

The fourth year middle blocker held her head high despite a four-set loss to Far Eastern University in the Final Four on Saturday at the MOA Arena.

But de Leon cannot confirm if she will be back next year.

“It’s a possibility,” said de Leon when asked if she’ll forgo her fifth playing year. “But I don’t want to make any rash decisions.”

It was a disappointing way to end the season for the Lady Eagles, who absorbed three straight defeats. The Ateneo women’s volleyball team ends its season early after six straight finals appearances.

Still, de Leon was proud of what they have achieved.

“Oh yeah, even me, I, myself had my own doubts with us not making it into the Final Four,” she disclosed.

“Of course everybody wants to be a champion but it’s not for us this year,” she added.

“Maybe it’s not the best way to end the season kasi ’di ba three straight losses. But I’m very proud of what my team has achieved,” she continued.

After the grueling season, de Leon plans to give herself a much-needed break.

“Bakasyon na muna kami, it was really a tough year,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ateneo coach Tai Bundit bid the team goodbye after five years with the Lady Eagles.
