ATENEO recovered from a poor start to beat winless University of the East, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-14, for its second consecutive victory in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

Jhoana Maraguinot had 20 points, 12 digs and 11 excellent receptions as the Lady Eagles improved to 2-2.

Skipper Maddie Madayag also had 12 markers for Ateneo, while Kat Tolentino and Bea de Leon each had 10 points.

“I told my teammates enjoy lang and focus lang sa game, masyado silang, kasi isang error parang masyado nilang iniisip,” said Madayag.

Ateneo had 12 blocks, four times more than UE’s output, and had 11 service aces against the Lady Warriors’ six.

Shaya Adorador and Mary Ann Mendrez combined for 26 points for UE, which is winless in four matches.
