ATENEO and La Salle bring their storied school rivalry to another stage as they slug it out in the featured Group B match in the eliminations of the Spikers’ Turf Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Wednesday.

The last time the two teams met, the Eagles swept the Archers in the double-round elims then went on to defeat the Adamson Falcons in the semis and the National U Bulldogs in the finals via identical 3-1 romps to annex their first-ever UAAP men’s volleyball crown.

That should make the Loyola-based squad the slight favorite in their keenly awaited 1 p.m. clash although the Archers will be coming into the match hungry for a win and revenge.

UAAP MVP and best attacker Marck Espejo, best setter Joner Polvorosa and mainstay Rex Intal and skipper Ysrael Marasigan are back with the Eagles toughened up by the entry of guest players Antonio Bello and James Sto. Tomas.

La Salle, on the other hand, will be led by team captain Raymark Woo, sophomores Geuel Asia and Mike Frey and guest players Geriant Bacon and Wayne Marco with support to come from Zosimo Maravilla, Ralph Calasin, Cris Dumago and Edmund Jose.

In the other Group B match, St. Benilde and La Salle-Dasmariñas collide at 3 p.m. while reigning NCAA champion Emilio Aguinaldo College opens its campaign in Group A against University of the East at 5 p.m.
