ATENEO kept its slate unblemished with a 25-16, 25-20, 25-17 win over National University on Monday in the round robin quarterfinals of the Spikers’ Turf Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

UAAP back-to-back Most Valuable Player Marck Espejo scored 12 points, while Rex Intal added eight for the Blue Eagles, which needed only an hour and 12 minutes to seal the win for a 7-0 card.

Bryan Bagunas scored 14 for NU, which absorbed its first loss in seven matches.

The win was Ateneo's seventh straight, counting its sweep of the group stages and will head as the top team in the semifinal of the tournament presented by PLDT Home Ultera.

Ranged against an equally unbeaten squad, Ateneo, which beat NCBA, FEU, and Emilio Aguinaldo College via similar 3-1 routs in the quarterfinals, proved too much for the Bustillos-based school, racing to big leads early in each set then thwarting every NU fightback the rest of the way.

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs still secured the No. 2 spot and will play the No. 3 team in the crossover semis.
