Bea de Leon cautions teammates, says hot streaks don't matter in Ateneo vs La Salle

ATENEO is on a hot streak while top rival La Salle is coming off a loss. The rival schools are level on the leaderboard.

But Lady Eagles star Bea de Leon notes none of that matters as they clash for the first time in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament.

“You know with Ateneo-La Salle you can never really tell. As we always say, Ateneo-La Salle no stats needed, nothing. No standings,” she said.

The first Ateneo-La Salle match of this volleyball tournament is set on Saturday at MOA Arena, and while the Lady Eagles look to have an edge having won four straight, De Leon stresses it doesn’t amount to much.

La Salle bowed to Adamson for its second loss of the season and the Lady Spikers are tied with the Lady Eagles at 4-2.

“Hopefully, you know, we get to take a slight advantage of that but I think it’s gonna be really close,” she added.

But De Leon noted she isn’t downplaying what the team has achieved, stressing that they just need to be cautious.

“I think what’s good about that is after the two straight losses we found our way up,” she said.

“And I think that’s very good for our confidence and morale to know that as a team we can go back up,” she added.
