Arellano starts NCAA women's volley title retention bid with quick win over Mapua
Regine Arocha and the Lady Chiefs make short work of the Lady Cardinals.

ARELLANO University started its title retention bid on a strong note, routing Mapua, 25-10, 25-17, 25-13, on Thursday in the in the NCAA Season 93 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San.

Regine Arocha led the way with 12 points, Andrea Marzan added nine, Mary Anne Esguerra chipped in eight, Jovielyn Prado had seven and Sarah Verutiao and Necole Ebuen had six markers apiece for the Lady Chiefs.

AU coach Obet Javier was pleased to see the team score a quick win as he continued to remind players to avoid the championship hangover.

“Everytime nagmi-meet kami ng mga bata, sinasabi ko Season 92 champion tayo, ok ’yun, this year defend na pero ‘di pa tayo champion,” he said.

“Kung ‘yung Season 92 pinagpaguran natin, this Season 93 ide-deretso na natin,” he added.

Diane Layatan finished with six points for Mapua, while Patria Pena added five.
