ARELLANO University scored a much more comfortable win this time, disposing of San Beda, 25-13, 29-27, 25-13, on Monday at The Arena in San Juan to complete its quest for back-to-back titles in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament.

Best Opposite Spiker Regine Arocha led the Lady Chiefs to their third title in four years.

Arocha and Jovielyn Prado each had 15 points for AU, while Andrea Marzan and Mary Anne Esguerra combined for 15 markers.

“Kasi sa practice namin kahapon, kahit sa huddle namin kanina, sinabi namin na sa araw na ito, dapat tapusin na natin,” said AU coach Obet Javier.

“Sinagot ako ng mga player ko sa pamamagitan ng ganoong klaseng laro,” he added.

The Lady Chiefs overcame four set points in the second set to gain momentum in the third set.

The Legarda-based squad started the third set on fire with an 8-0 run, all the way to the championship point, 24-10.

It was a surprisingly quick win for the Lady Chiefs, who needed five sets to beat the Lady Red Spikers in the series opener.

Cesca Racraquin led the Lady Red Spikers with 13 points and 14 excellent receptions.
