LA Salle stars Ara Galang and Mika Reyes are looking forward to make the most of the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament's 10-day break spanning the Holy Week.u

Although the team only sanctioned three days of rest from Thursday to Saturday as training resumes on Easter Sunday, both Reyes and Galang are content to take any vacation they can get to recharge their weary bodies and minds.

“Hindi kasi pupuwede magpahinga eh. Siguro pahinga lang kami ng Thursday, Friday, Saturday tapos balik na kami ng Sunday,” said La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus, whose wards secured a semis spot and joined two-time Finals tormentor Ateneo in the Final Four.

“For sure uuwi ako ng Pampanga pero sa dates ‘di ko pa alam when,” said Galang.

Reyes has the same plan.

“Uuwi akong Bulacan kasi doon talaga kami nagho-Holy Week,” revealed Reyes.

The two volleybelles shared their short vacation will be their time for the Lord, for their families, and for themselves.

“Catch up sa rest and family,” Galang told a handful of reporters.

“May fasting, tapos hindi kakain ng meat and then church,” said Reyes. “Kasi I usually rest kapag Holy Week, pahinga lang din for the upcoming games. April 2 pa ang next game, matagal-tagal pa, so makakapahinga pa kami, conditioning and karga ng konti.”

La Salle's middle blocker also offers a special prayer for the Holy Week.

“Syempre sa team sana walang magka-major injury sa amin and sa other teams [din]. And then hopefully magiging maganda ang laro [namin] sa next games pa,” said Reyes.

UAAP women's volleyball action returns on March 30, Wednesday, at The Arena in San Juan.
