VOLLEYBALL stars Alyssa Valdez and Jia Morado said they don’t mind going through tryouts to be able to once again fly the flag for Team Philippines overseas.

The former Ateneo stars were the last to arrive at the Arellano gym in Legarda, Manila on Friday night but were quick to blend in during the tryouts supervised by newly appointed national coach Ramil de Jesus.

“It’s really one of our dreams as an athlete to really represent the country,” said Valdez, stressing she won’t get tired of joining the national team.

“Sabi ko nga, every year kahit napuputul-putol tayo eh babalik at babalik tayo kasi para sa bayan,” she added. “So hopefully this year na magtuluy-tuloy na maging united na tayo para sa volleyball.”

Morado said being invited for the tryouts was an honor in itself.

“I’m sad that I wasn’t able to try out the last time but moving forward and being able to come here today, I’m just really happy,” said the former best setter in the UAAP.

Aside from the twom also present during the tryouts were Cha Cruz-Behag, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, CJ Rosario, MJ Phillips, Rebecca Rivera, Aby Maraño, Jaja Santiago, Mylene Paat, Kim Dy, Majoy Baron, Dawn Macandili, Ara Galang, Kim Fajardo, Mel Gohing, Sisi Rondina and Maika Ortiz.
