ALYSSA Valdez may have accepted Creamline team management’s decision to sit her out for the rest of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, but it didn’t stop her from showing up in uniform as Creamline turned back BaliPure to move a win away from the finals.

For the fourth consecutive game, Creamline played without star Valdez, only this time the Cool Smashers top hitter was on the sidelines suited up and admitted that she was itching to play.

The national team member, who already missed three games due to the 17-day training camp in Japan, was reduced to a mere spectator after Rebisco management decided on Saturday not to field her in the remainder of the tournament.

A day earlier, Rebisco management requested the LVPI to allow Valdez to see action on their semifinals match against BaliPure. But hours before the match on Saturday she was pulled out due to health reasons. Still, it didn’t dampen Valdez’s spirits.

“I’m just looking forward na makapaglaro with them pa rin soon siguro,” said Valdez.

But the pride of San Juan, Batangas, who joined the team warm up before the match, isn’t sure when she can be allowed by the management to play in the commercial league again.

“As of now naglabas na ng statement, ang management namin so ‘yun na muna ang panghahawakan ko,” she said.

Although she was itching to play, Valdez was proud to see her teammates step up and survived BaliPure, 25-19, 13-25, 28-26, 18-25, 15-7, in Game One of the best-of-three semifinals.

The Creamline top hitter is hopeful that the Cool Smashers can finish off the series on Sunday.

“They’ve been playing naman ilang games na without naman me so I’m just really proud and happy na tuluy-tuloy ang pag-angat and pat-step up ng lahat ng players,” she said.
