Alyssa Valdez, Bea Tan take top spot in UAAP beach volley with win over Jessica Galanza and Mylene Paat
Ateneo's Bea Tan comes up with fine plays as teh Lady Eagles stay unbeaten.

ATENEO took the solo lead as Alyssa Valdez and Bea Tan turned back Adamson’s Mylene Paat and Jessica Galanza, 21-13, 21-15, on Sunday in the UAAP beach volleyball tournament at the MOA Sands by the Bay.

The Lady Eagles scored their fourth win in four outings, while dealing the Lady Falcons their first loss in four matches.

Far Eastern University joined Adamson in second place at 3-1 as Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza downed National University's Jaja Santiago and Jasmine Nabor, 21-12, 21-12.

In other matches, defending champion University of Santo Tomas and last year’s runner-up La Salle beat separate foes to improve their win-loss records to 2-2.

UST’s Cherry Rondina and Rica Rivera clobbered University of the Philippines' Arianne Estranero and Vina Alinas, 21-12, 21-15.

Lady Spikers Cyd Demecillo and Kim Fajardo defeated University of the East's Judith Abil and Angelica Dacaymat, 21-10, 21-9.

The Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Maroons fell to 1-3, while the Lady Warriors are still winless in four outings.

In the men's division, Ateneo scored its fourth win in four matches, downing FEU, 21-18, 21-12.

UST also improved to 4-0 with a 21-19, 21-17 victory over UP.

Defending champion NU defeated UE, 21-15, 21-16, for a 3-1 slate, while Adamson overwhelmed La Salle, 21-10, 21-14, to even its record to 2-2.
