JOSE Rizal University star Shola Alvarez took pride in seeing her hard work bear fruit with the MVP award for NCAA Season 93.

Alvarez was worthy of the honor after she steered the Lady Bombers to their first Final Four finish since the return of its women’s volleyball program in 2008. Despite falling short in the semifinals, she remained proud of what they accomplished as a team and of the recognition she received in her final playing year.

“Sobrang saya ko na sa limang taon na pinaghirapan namin ng teammates ko eh nakuha namin pinaka goal namin,” said Alvarez on Friday during the awarding at The Arena in San Juan.

“‘Di po siya basta-basta makukuha dapat paghirapan (MVP award), ngayon na last year ko na nakakatuwa na sobra kasi nakuha ko na siya,” she added.

Alvarez insisted, however, that she has unfinished business in the NCAA, which is to win a title for JRU but only this time in the beach volleyball tournament that kicks off on the last week of February.

“Sa beach volley, promise,” said Alvarez as she was on her way out of the press room.

Alvarez will team up with her fellow graduating player Dolly Verzosa in the beach volleyball.
