La Salle's league-best record won't matter in UAAP playoffs, warns Ramil de Jesus

BEWARE, National University.

After La Salle completed a sweep of the second round of the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball eliminations, coach Ramil de Jesus already had his focus on the Lady Spikers' Final Four opponents.

“Well, sabi ko nga, one game at a time," he said after threepeat-seeking La Salle made short work of arch rival Ateneo, 26-24, 25-17, 25-19, on Sunday at the MOA Arena.

"Tapos na kami sa Ateneo, so it's about time na mag-focus kami sa susunod na game, which is 'yung semis against NU,” de Jesus added.

The Lady Spikers, who are gunning for their 11th title, are the top seeds and therefore hold twice-to-beat advantage over the Lady Bulldogs in the semifinal playoff set to begin on April 21 at the MOA Arena.

Still, de Jesus warned it's back to zero in the playoffs.

“Lagi kong sinasabi sa kanila, itong buong eliminations, hindi importante ito,” said the veteran mentor. “Ang pinaka-importanteng game ay pagdating ng semis at saka ng finals, kung aabutin ng finals.”
