ADAMSON hammered out a 21-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-14, 15-8 win over Far Eastern University in their Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference semifinals opener on Wednesday.

Christine Soyud was at the forefront of Adamson's attack with 23 points, including the combination play that gave the Lady Falcons a comfortable 13-8 lead in the fifth set.

Bernadette Flora and Chiara Permentilla scored 14 each, while Mary Joy Dacoron had 12 markers.

Down two sets, the Lady Falcons gained steam in the final two frames on the way to the victory that allowed the team to move a win away from clinching the finals.

Adamson raced off to an 8-5 lead in the final frame which ballooned to 14-8 on Bernadette Flora's kill before FEU spiker Jerrili Malabanan shot's went long in the final play.

"I told them in the locker room I don't think anyone has to play amazing. It's about a team effort. And I think thats why we won," said Adamson coach Airess Padda, who didn't have star Jema Galanza on the court due to an ankle injury.

Also playing without top hitter Bernadette Pons, the Lady Tamaraws relied heavily on Toni Rose Basas and Jeanette Villareal.

Basas fired team-high 17 points, while Villareal added 13 for FEU.

Game Two is on Saturday also at the same venue.
