ADAMSON University snapped a two-match skid, pulling off a major upset over three-peat seeking La Salle, 25-18, 15-25, 25-19, 25-22, in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

Former La Salle opposite spiker Eli Soyud, who played in Seasons 77 and 78 for the Lady Spikers, had 18 points as the Lady Falcons improved their win-loss record to 3-3.

Mylene Paat and Joy Dacoron each had 15 markers, while Adamson skipper Jema Galanza had 10 points, 14 digs and 16 excellent receptions and setter Fenela Emnas outplayed her counterpart Michelle Cobb (43-29).

The Lady Falcons’ last win over the Lady Spikers was a four-setter in second round of Season 70.

“Man, today I’m so proud of them,” said Adamson coach Air Padda. “The only goal I set for them was to make the school proud. It wasn’t even about beating La Salle.”

It was the Lady Spikers' second loss in six outings, earlier bowing to league-leading National University.

Team captain Majoy Baron and Des Cheng made 13 and 10 points, respectively, for La Salle.

The Lady Falcons went on a 12-1 run to take the lead 17-10 in the fourth set, and held on for the win.

Dacoron pushed Adamson at match point, 24-20, before La Salle saved two match points but Galanza’s powerful hit gave the Lady Falcons their third win in six outings.
