NU Lady Bulldogs suffer momentary slip but recover to stay unbeaten, keep UE Lady Warriors winless

NATIONAL University suffered a momentary slip but regained composure to defeat University of the East, 25-15, 18-25, 25-23, 25-19, and remain unbeaten in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.

Jaja Santiago had a game-high 23 points to lead the way for NU, which cruised to its third straight win to take the solo top spot.

“’Yung kaninang game is a good win, but it's not a good performance sa amin. But a win is a win, we like that,” said NU coach Babes Castillo.

Down 17-18 in the second set, UE scored eight straight points and held on to even the match.

Roselyn Doria had 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who slowly recovered and went on to extend their winning run over the Lady Warriors to 16 since the first round of eliminations of Season 72.

“We will take the win, thank you for the win, but we definitely have to work as a group,” said Castillo.

Mary Ann Mendrez and Shaya Adorador had 11 points apiece for UE, winless in three matches.
