USPF tandem Edward Ybanez and Edmar Bonono defeated University of Mindanao-Tagum’s Hachaliah Gilbuena and Jhonrel Amora, 21-15, 23-21.
Johnvic de Guzman and Marjun Alingasa of St. Benilde won over Mark Gil Alfafara and Kris Roy Guzman of University of Santo Tomas, 21-17, 21-15.
In other men’s matches, Holy Cross of Davao’s Calvin Sarte and Edmar Flores beat University of Baguio’s Kurt Rosete and Noel Malaca, 21-17, 21-12, in the morning then defeated Mindanao State University’s Nur Amin Madsairi and Roldan Medino Jr., 25-23, 21-18, in the afternoon.
Before its tough loss to HCDC, MSU beat Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas’ Paul Lester Paborito and Elmer Mendoza, 21-13, 21-15.
Southwestern University’s Rommel Pepito and Jewel Cabahug took care of its assignments for the day as they downed University of Mindanao-Davao duo of Francis Caunga and Vincent Pungay, 21-18, 21-16, then defeated Collegio San Agustin-Bacolod’s Jun Vasquez and Marvin Haresco, 21-18, 21-10.
National U’s Joseph Tipay and Edwin Tolentino clobbered Vasquez and Haresco of CSAB, 21-12, 21-19.
