Nes Pamilar passes away at 52

MULTI-titled volleyball coach Nes Pamilar passed away on Saturday morning due to heart failure. He was 52.

Pamilar missed the volleyball scene in 2017 after being diagnosed with coronary artery blockage. He underwent bypass surgery in November of the same year and returned to coach the Tacloban Fighting Warays in the PVL Season Reinforced and Open Conferences and called the shots for the San Beda Red Spikers in the NCAA Season 94.

He steered FEU to the women’s volleyball title in 2007, the Lady Tamaraws’ last title in the UAAP.

Pamilar is survived by his wife Bing and their four children.

He was scheduled to call the shots in San Beda’s final elimination-round match against Arellano University on Tuesday.

Pamilar also coached the Cagayan Valley Rising Suns in the defunct V-League, De La Salle Green Spikers in the UAAP, Letran and College of St. Benilde in the NCAA and the Angelicum College high school team.

As a player he won two UAAP championships with FEU in the mid-1980s.
