SAN Sebastian started its title-retention bid with a huge win as Gretchel Soltones and Camille Uy downed Mapua's Camille de la Pena at Debbie Dultra, 21-11, 21-9, on Wednesday in the women's division of the 90th NCAA beach volley tournament at the Boardwalk in Subic Bay.
Although they scored a straight-sets win, reigning MVP Soltones described it as a tough match as she adjusts to the sand and her new partner.
“Medyo nahirapan po kami kasi first time lang namin na naging mag partner at saka wala talaga kaming training sa sand court," said Soltones, who won the title last year with Czarina Berbano.
Soltones, a 19-year-old Business Management student who hails from Cebu, said they prepared for a month in an indoor court at San Sebastian.
