THREE-time defending champion University of Perpetual Help dumped San Beda, 25-18, 25-11, 25-15, for a share of second spot in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan on Friday.
Skipper Jamela Suyat scored 11 points, while Ana Diocareza added 10 for the Lady Altas, now tied with San Sebastian at 7-1 just behind undefeated leader Arellano (7-0).
UPH also got significant contributions from rookie Lourdes Clemente, who chipped in nine, even as Cindy Imbo and Shyrra Cabriana combined for 15 markers.
Debbie Dultra made six for San Beda, which remained winless in six matches.
Earlier, Lyceum recovered from a set down to turn back Mapua, 22-25, 25-14, 25-12, 25-17.
Dhiane Ibit finished with 17 points for the Lady Pirates, Czarina Orros contributed 14 and Cherillyn Sindayen and Mikaela Andres poured in 12 apiece.
Lyceum improved to 2-5 for sixth spot in a tie with Emilio Aguinaldo.
Audrey Paran was the lone bright spot for Mapua with 12 points.
The Lady Cardinals dropped to eighth place with a 1-6 (win-loss) card.
