EMILIO Aguinaldo College downed College of St. Benilde, 25-21 23-25, 25-19, 25-20, on Monday to rule the 90th NCAA season volleyball competition at The Arena in San Juan City.
It was the Generals’ first title not just in volleyball but in any sport in the seniors division since they entered the league six seasons ago.
Howard Mojica had a match-best 28 spikes to carry the Generals to a 2-1 series win.
"Our hard work finally paid off," said EAC coach Rod Palmero, whose wards lost to the Perpetual Help Altas in last year's finale.
Mojica's big game came a few days after a 33-hit masterpiece that propelled EAC to a 25-22, 21-25, 21-25, 25-15, 15-13 in the second match of the best-of-three series.
Mojica averaged 29 in the series, adding the Finals MVP trophy his season MVP title.
Johnvic de Guzman scored 20 for the second straight match for the Blazers, who took the series opener, 27-25, 25-20, 23-25, 26-24.
