REIGNING NCAA back-to-back champion University of Perpetual Help makes its debut in the 10th Shakey’s V-League First Conference opposite Arellano University on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Sandra delos Santos and Honey Tubino are expected to banner the Lady Altas in the 4 p.m. game against the Lady Chiefs, who will be gunning for their second consecutive win.
Arellano, seeing action in the tournament for the first time, leaned on guest players Nerissa Bautista and Mary Jean Balse in beating San Carlos last Thursday.
Bautista and Balse came through with 17 and 16 points, respectively, as the Lady Chiefs evened their record at 1-1.
“Kailangan namin sila paghandaan. Kasi champion team 'yun,” said Arellano coach Roberto Javier, whose team regularly plays Perpetual in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament.
Arellano is currently tied with Adamson in second spot in Group B, which National University leads with a 2-0 record.
Meanwhile, Ateneo guns for a third straight win when it collides with Letran in the opener at 2 p.m.
After dispatching UST and San Sebastian, the Lady Eagles will try to add the Lady Knights to their list of victims.
Letran is currently at the bottom of Group A with a 0-1 slate.
