EMILIO Aguinaldo College goes for the jugular while Perpetual Help hopes to extend the title series as the Generals and Altas face off in the second match of the NCAA volleyball finals on Friday at The Arena in San Juan City.
Howard Mojica led the way as the Generals turned back the Altas, 25-22, 14-25, 25-14, 25-16, in the series opener on Tuesday.
"We're focused of getting it in Game Two," said EAC coach Rodrigo Palmero.
Mojica had a match-best 22 hits, dominating the final two sets and is favored to be named MVP for the second straight year in Friday’s awarding ceremony for top players.
Perpetual Help coach Sammy Acaylar is hoping to find a way to slow Mojica down.
"If we can make it a little harder for him, we'll have a chance," said Acaylar.
A series decider, if necessary, will be played on Tuesday.
In juniors' play, Perpetual Help also guns for the clincher as it tackles EAC in their own best-of-three series.
The Junior Altas routed the Brigadiers, 25-13, 25-18, 25-16, in the series opener to close in on a second straight title.
Meanwhile, St. Benilde looks to score a follow-up to its stunning 24-26, 25-21, 25-19, 25-13 win over San Sebastian when they clash anew.
San Sebastian earned a thrice-to-beat edge after it swept the elimination round.
