STREAKING National University secured a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four after downing University of the Philippines, 25-17, 26-24, 25-13, on Wednesday in the 76th UAAP women's volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Dindin Santiago came up with 18 points, younger sister Jaja and Mina Aganon chipped in 12 apiece, while Aiko Urdas added 11 as the Lady Bulldogs extended their winning run to nine.
NU now holds an 11-1 win-loss card, behind unbeaten league leader La Salle (11-0).
"Malaking bagay 'yung may twice-to-beat advantage kami, malaking bagay sa kumpyansa," said NU coach Edjet Mabbayad. "Tataas ang morale ng mga bata kasi dalawang beses kami kailangan talunin kumpara sa kanila (kalaban) na isang beses lang namin kailangan manalo.
Angeli Araneta finished with 10 points for the Lady Maroons, while Katherine Bersola contributed nine.
UP, which only committed nine team errors, now has a 1-11 slate.
