NATIONAL University scored a quick win over University of Santo Tomas, 25-18, 25-13, 25-21, in the 76th UAAP women's volleyball tournament on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Bulldogs had full control of the match, with the Tigresses putting in some pressure only in the third set with a 5-1 run that tied it at 17-all.
UST stayed close, 21-23, after a Carmela Tunay hit, but Jaja Santiago scored for NU and Pam Lastimosa committed an error that gave the Lady Bulldogs the victory.
Dindin Santiago came up with 19 points, while Carmina Aganon added 14 for NU, which improved its win-loss record to 4-1 and joined Ateneo in second spot.
Pam Lastimosa produced 12 for UST, which dropped to sixth place with a 2-3 record.
