NATIONAL University is assured of at least a playoff for second spot in the semifinals after downing University of the East, 25-12, 25-18, 25-18, on Sunday in the 76th UAAP women's volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Bulldogs bagged their eighth straight win for a 10-1 win-loss record, behind only league leader La Salle (11-0).

Ateneo is a distant third with a 7-4 mark, still with a slim chance of catching up and force a playoff with three elimination-round matches left, although NU could seal the No. 2 spot with a win in its next game against UP on Wednesday.

Dindin Santiago notched 23 points from 13 spikes, two blocks and eight service aces, for the Lady Bulldogs, while Ivy Perez added 10.

“Sa nakikita namin tumataas na ang laro kasi every game may improvement sila sa block, sa teamwork, nakikita namin na umaangat pa sila,” said NU coach Edjet Mabbayad.
