MIKA Reyes is going to miss the women’s national pool’s Bangkok training camp and the Southeast Asian Grand Prix in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand due to a minor left knee injury.
National team head coach Shaq Delos Santos said that Reyes is nursing a minor knee injury that she sustained in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference where she still played through until Petron finished with a bronze medal.
“Pinapaayos niya yung tuhod niya kasi nung ongoing yung All-Filipino meron na talagang pain na nararamdaman sa tuhod niya,” said Delos Santos, who is also Reyes’s coach in Petron. “Light injury lang, kailangan lang niya ng one month or ano para makapagrecover.”

The national team mainstay really wanted to join the pool, which flies to Thailand on Saturday for a 12-day training camp before the Southeast Asian Grand Prix from September 20-22, but Delos Santos insisted his middle blocker to recover first.
“Actually gustong gusto niya pero ayaw din naman namin na pilitin,” he said. “Kasi hanggat maaari makapag pagamot muna siya and makarecover para at least mas maging long term yung paglalaro niya.”
On a brighter note, Delos Santos said that the former De La Salle star will be cleared from her injury when the national team comeback and before the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
“I think pagbalik namin makakasama na ulit siya sa team,” he said.
