MICHELLE Morente said she will support Jia Morado’s decision to end her Ateneo career, but vowed to do everything to persuade the team captain to play out her final year with the Lady Eagles.
Morado announced after the UAAP finals that she is foregoing her final year although members of the Ateneo women’s volleyball team, including Morente, assistant coach Sherwin Meneses and team manager Tony Boy Liao, believe the former league top setter has not totally shut the door on the Lady Eagles.
“I’ll do everything to make her come back kasi alam mo yun, si Jia eh, she’s my batchmate. I just came back and then aalis na siya,” said Morente.
Morente, however, said she will support Morado’s final decision.
"Pero kung ano yung decision niya dun ako,” Morente added.
Meneses pointed out immediately following Saturday’s game that Morado’s future has not yet been discussed.
“Wala pa, hindi muna pinagusapan pero baka bumalik,” Meneses said. “Depende na yan sa office kung ano yung mapagusapan nila.”
Morado said after the match she has no regrets about her performance, knowing the team performed at the high level in looking to extend the series.
“Masasabi ko lang na I’m happy about the game. It could have gone either way. Sayang though,” said the fourth-year setter.
“But then, I’m sure we put up a fight in the game kanina.”
“We’re grateful for the season, we’re grateful for the final experience. Hindi palaging panalo, hindi palaging talo. So in the end, wala namang upset sa amin about what happened,” she said.
