MAKE that two La Salle playmakers in the national team as Mars Alba joins Alas Pilipinas Women.

The former Lady Spiker-turned-Flying Titan was tapped to fill in one of two setter spots vacated by Jia de Guzman, who'll begin her second season with Denso Airybees in the Japan SV.League on October.
Alba will be reunited with Julia Coronel whom she shared playmaking duties with for the Lady Spikers in their UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball championship run where she took home the Finals MVP plum.

Excluding still-to-rejoin Angel Canino, there will now be a quintet of Taft-based nationals, as the setter duo teams up with new Alas captain Dawn Macandili-Catindig, Fifi Sharma, and Thea Gagate.

Alba could make her national debut as soon as on Saturday in the first of two Alas Pilipinas Invitationals matches against eight-time Japanese champion Saga Hisamitsu Springs.
Three of many reasons why
Alas head coach Jorge Souza de Brito gave SPIN.ph three key reasons why it was Alba who earned the coveted national team spot.
"She is good, she is available, and she wants to join (Alas)," the nationals mentor said.
De Brito also confirmed that Alba's national team debut will happen 'this weekend.'

Alba was instrumental in Choco Mucho's back-to-back PVL All-Filipino Conference runner-up finishes early into her pro volleyball career.
She'll look to take her much-improved playmaking skillset to the international stage for the first time for flag and country.
