Jan 13, 2014

ALSALI Pajiji struck hard in the third set, lifting Philippine Merchant Marine School to a 25-19, 25-15, 25-14 win over Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite in the Vanguards’ own home-court Monday.

Pajiji came up with six crucial points to help carry the Mariners to their fourth win in five games in the men’s division of the 21st National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) volleyball tournament.

His presence at the frontline allowed the Mariners to quickly move out of reach, 8-3, in the third and final set.

It took the Mariners 47 minutes to finish off the Vanguards and move into solo second spot, ahead of the La Salle-Dasmarinas Patriots.

“Itinodo na namin sa game na ito. Malalakas kasi ang mga susunod na kalaban,” said PMMS coach Robert Buenamente.

In the second set, a pair of smashes from Edsel Hervas allowed the Mariners to gain headway, 7-2. Then, Ericson Chan came into the picture, sending in a pair of aces as the Mariners widened their lead, 10-4.
