Ateneo Blue Eagles, FEU Tamaraws score big wins to stay in joint second in UAAP volleyball

ATENEO and Far Eastern University scored big wins on Saturday to remain tied for second spot in the UAAP volleyball tournament in San Juan.

The Blue Eagles overcame a slow start to defeat University of the Philippines 24-26, 25-15, 25-18, 31-29.

Marck Espejo fired 30 points including three blocks and two aces for the Blue Eagles, to match FEU at 9-2.

National University is on top with a 9-1 record.

Espejo put Ateneo at match point, 30-29, with an attack point then Ron Medalla then delivered a service ace to seal the victory.

The Tamaraws routed the University of the East Warriors, 25-19, 25-12, 29-27, for their third straight victory.

Redijohn Paler led FEU with 13 points, while Peter Quiel added 10 markers as the Tamaraws kept the Warriors winless in 11 matches.

Clifford Inoferio paced the Red Warriors with 16 points.
