THE country’s volleyball governing body said the composition of the national volleyball team for the Asian Under-23 championship was based on the performances of teams in the UAAP, with Ateneo champion coach Oliver Almadro having the core of his Blue Eagles team in the lineup for the tournament set May 12 to 20 in Myanmar.
Back-to-back MVP Marck Espejo, Rex Intal, Ysrael Marasigan and Finals MVP Ish Polvorosa will team up with National University’s Peter Torres, who saw action for the Philippines in the 2014 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Champonship. UAAP Best Scorer Mark Gil Alfafara of University of Santo Tomas will also be in the lineup.
Mayroon pa yatang kinuha from UST.”
Dante Alinsunurin of National University will be the deputy coach.
NCAA MVP Howard Mojica of champion team Emilio Aguinaldo College and College of St. Benilde ace spiker Jonvic de Guzman are also being considered for the team.
The nine-day tournament will be the Asian qualifier for the 2015 FIVB Men’s U-23 World Championship in Dubai, United Arab Emirates set August 24 to 31.
