MARCK Espejo is headed overseas once again, adding another chapter to his globe-trotting career after signing with TSG Skyhawks in the Taiwan Professional Volleyball League.

The move marks the 28-year-old outside hitter’s seventh international stint across five different countries.

Espejo has previously played in Japan on three occasions, along with stops in Thailand, Bahrain and Korea, establishing himself as one of the most experienced Filipino volleyball exports of his generation.

Veteran Dutch coach Henk Gootjes, who currently leads the Skyhawks, cited Espejo’s all-around skill set and maturity as key reasons behind the signing.

“Marck has good service reception and has clear and outstanding offensive firepower that can immediately improve the team's ability,” Gootjes said in a club post.

“In addition, Marck's stable and positive personality will be a great help to the team. His experience at last year’s World Championship was valuable to the team.”

Espejo’s move to Taiwan comes on the heels of a busy and productive stretch. He briefly suited up for Criss Cross during the early stages of its breakthrough championship run in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference before turning his focus to national team duties.

With Alas Pilipinas Men, Espejo played a pivotal role in securing a bronze medal at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, a fitting follow-up to the squad’s historic campaign at the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship.

By joining the Skyhawks, Espejo follows the path carved by fellow Filipino star Bryan Bagunas, becoming only the second Filipino to compete in Taiwan’s top-flight men’s league.

Bagunas previously enjoyed a highly successful run with Win Streak, winning back-to-back titles and top spiker honors before moving on to Japan’s Osaka Bluteon.
