ATENEO coach Oliver Almadro is hoping Marck Espejo would back in top form for the semifinals as he lauded the Blue Eagles star for delivering in the final elimination-round match after a bout with the flu.
The Blue Eagles preserved their unblemished record with a victory over University of the Philippines, with Espejo scoring eight points scoring eight points, all from attacks.
“May flu siya, diagnosed siya, dinala sa Medical City. He rested for four days and then sabi niya ngayon he could play,” Almadro said.
“Sayang naman, sinabi niya ‘I want to play coach,’ kung hindi ko siya pagbigyan.
“Nakita niyo naman on and off, pasok labas yan. So hopefully, by next game mataas na level niya or hundred percent na siya.” Almadro added.
Almadro is also hoping Espejo’s efforts will inspire the rest of the Eagles to do better.
“Yun nga kailangan ko from them, yung mga bench kailangan magdeliver right away.”
“What I'm telling them is yung level should be up, no matter where you on the bench or starter, kailangan everytime yung level niyo mataas,” he added.
