BACK on their feet after a shocking loss, Ara Galang and Aby Maraño have vowed not to let the title slip away as La Salle looks to finish the job in the 76th UAAP women's volleyball tournament.
Ateneo stunned a rusty La Salle side in the first game of the title series last week but the Lady Spikers bounced back with a convincing four-setter on Saturday to move within a victory of a record fourth straight crown.
Maraño stressed their desire to win has not waned despite having claimed three consecutive titles and that they will go all out to seal the win in Game Three on Wednesday at the MOA Arena.
“Hindi kami papayag sa Wednesday na hindi namin gustong manalo,” said Marano, who had 11 points in La Salle’s 25-14, 25-20, 19-25, 26-24 win at the Araneta Coliseum. “Sa Wednesday gusto na namin matapos.”
“Pwedeng hindi pa tapos pero ako sa sarili ko tatrabahuhin namin ’yun (championship), laging ganoon. Masakit ’yung magsasalita ka ng hindi nagagawa mas maganda ’yung gawin mo na lang kesa magsalita ka ’di ba?”
Galang, co-MVP with Marano last season, fired 17 points on Saturday after a 13-point performance in the opener.
“Unang-una tinignan namin ’yung reason bakit kami natalo last game,” said Galang. “Ayaw na namin mangyari 'yun ngayon. Ang mindset namin is revenge. Ayaw na namin matalo ulit, ’di namin ipapaagaw ang korona.”
