MAJOY Baron led a block party in La Salle's 25-21, 25-11, 15-25, 25-12 win over National University in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
The fourth-year middle blocker led the Lady Spikers with 17 points and made six of the team’s nine blocks - higher than the four of the entire NU side in the match that took an hour and 42 minutes to finish.
The 5-foot-9 Baron said her biggest motivation was trying to measure up against the league’s tallest player - NU captain Jaja Santiago, who’s eight inches taller than her.

Santiago was held to nine points, from six hits, two blocks, and one service ace, but Baron was quick to playdown her dominating performance at the net.
The soft-spoken volleybelle said simply rode on her good start.
La Salle improved to 7-2 win-loss record while NU dropped to 5-4 in a tie with Far Eastern University.
