MACKY Cariño stepped down as head coach of the College of St. Benilde, two years after leading the Lady Blazers to a maiden NCAA women’s volleyball championship.
Cariño tendered his resignation last Wednesday, ending a four-year tenure at CSB that included back-to-back third-place finishes in his first two years in charge before leading the team to the title in 2016 - the school's first since joining the league in 1998.
The team finished third last season.
His surprise resignation will force a change in the Benilde coaching staff, just two months before the new NCAA tournament kicks off in December.
