THE Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) and Philippine Superliga (PSL) on Tuesday condemned the vicious bashing and accusations of 'inappropriate affair' directed at national player Ces Molina and national coach Shaq Delos Santos.

In a joint statement, the national federation for volleyball and the commercial league denounced the bashing Molina and Delos Santos received online during the recently-concluded ASEAN Grand Prix 1st Leg in Thailand.

“The Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. and the Philippine Superliga Inc. condemn in the strongest terms the abuse by some quarters of access to social media by using lewd and vicious language and accusations of inappropriate relations directed at Ms. Ces Molina, member of the women’s national team, to the recently-concluded ASEAN Grand Prix held in Thailand, and Mr. Shaq Delos Santos of the said team,” the statement read.

Molina and Delos Santos, who are Petron’s skipper and head coach, respectively, both received harsh comments from some netizens in all the three matches that the Philippines played in the ASEAN Grand Prix.

Molina became a trending topic on Twitter Philippines during the national team’s opening loss to Indonesia last Friday, with bashers blaming her for the five-set loss despite her team-high 18 points.

#ShaqResign also topped the trending hashtags last Sunday as bashers questioned his rotation of the players. The Philippines won the the bronze medal after beating Vietnam in their battle for third place.

“We can speculate on their motive-pure hate or envy, to pressure the coaching staff to change the line up and thus benefit others, or to promote some bizarre cause- but rest assured the full force of the law shall bear on them.”
