LYCEUM of the Philippines University barged into the winning column in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference after it disposed listless Jose Rizal University, 25-20, 24-26, 25-13, 25-22, on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Christine Miralles finished with 18 points for LPU, which bagged its first win to improve to a 1-1 win-loss card tied with Ateneo in Group A.
Rocelyn Hongria and skipper Cherilyn Sindayen each had 15 markers and La Rainne Fabay chipped in 10 points.
“Kino-compare ko ang laro, sabi ko advantage kami sa kanila kasi nakakalaban namin sila sa NCAA,” said LPU coach Emil Lontoc.
“Sabi ko kulang lang sa maturity ang team ko, nakakapalo sila, nakakablock pero kapag ‘yung mga bolang instant na bumabagsak, doon namin sila ico-correct,” he added.
LPU had more attack points (53-38) and registered more blocks (10-3).
JRU team captain Shola Alvarez had a game-high 19 points, while Dolly Versoza added 11.
The Lady Bombers dropped to 0-3 and became the lone team that remained winless in the group.
