RESPONDING to the clamor from volleyball fans, the Shakey's V-League has announced that the final two games of the Season 10 First Conference championship series will be played in bigger venues and telecast live on GMA News TV.
League commissioner Tony Boy Liao also said the Mall of Asia Arena and the Philsports Arena will play host not only to the best-of-three finals but also the best-of-three semifinals which kick off on May 14.
The elimination-round games were played at The Arena in San Juan, where hundreds of fans had to be turned away during last Sunday’s blockbuster playdate which pitted University of Santo Tomas against Adamson and Ateneo against National University.
Liao said Game One of the Finals will be played on May 23 at the Mall of Asia Arena and shown on a delayed basis over GMA News TV, just like the league's elimination-round and quarterfinal games.
But Liao said the final two matches of the series - both with the title on the line - will be brought live to the homes of Filipino volleyball fans by GMA’s news channel starting in Game Two on May 26 at the MOA Arena.
The do-or-die Game Three, meanwhile, will be at the Philsports Arena on June 2 if necessary.
Meanwhile, the best-of-three matches - pitting Ateneo against University of Santo Tomas, and National University versus Adamson - will also be played at the same venues, with Game One being played at the Philsports Arena on May 14.
Game Two of the two series, meanwhile, is slated on May 16 at the Mall of Asia Arena. Game Three, if necessary, will be at the Philsports Arena on May 19.
