BINAN — Foton Pilipinas import Lindsay Stalzer has been ruled out of the Tornadoes’ classification match against NEC Red Rockets of Japan in the Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship.
Stalzer already skipped the match against Vietnam’s Thongtin Lien Viet Post Bank due to back spasms and will be held out again on Tuesday for the match that Italian coach Fabio Menta described as “impossible.”
Foton hopes the American import will be ready for the next match against Altay VC of Kazakhstan on Wednesday.
The top eight after group play see action in another round to determine the quarterfinal seedings.
"Stalzer on the court is not a priority against Japan but certainly next day," said Menta on Tuesday. "She won't be on top (of her game) anyway and we cannot waste her energy in an almost impossible match."
Stalzer scored seven points, all in the first set, before being pulled out in Foton’s opening win over the Kwai Tsing. She hurt her back lifting weights later in the day.
